GATECRASHER NOTTINGHAM FORCED TO SHUT DUE TO NEIGHBOURING FIRE

Sorry ladies and Gents... this one's out of my control.

This is the official statement from Gatecrasher:

"Gatecrasher Loves Nottingham has been forced to shut temporarily due to a serious fire which broke out on Wednesday night at adjacent Queen Street restaurant Soulville Steakhouse.

Six fire crews from Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service attended the blaze and managed to contain the fire to the restaurant.

The fire did not spread extensively to Gatercrasher but the club has suffered serious smoke and heat damage and will remain closed whilst a refurbishment takes place. The extent of the damage is currently being assessed and until that time no guarantees can be made as to when the club will reopen.

Simon Raine, Managing Director of Gatecrasher commented;

“We must commend Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service who did an excellent job in terrible conditions as they prevented this serious fire spreading extensively to neighbouring businesses like ourselves.

However, Gatecrasher was damaged by the fire and unfortunately will remain shut whilst we undergo a refurbishment. The scale of the damage and the time we will have to remain closed is as yet uncertain and will be determined following a formal assessment.

Unfortunately some of the nights we had planned will have to be rescheduled including the debut of phenomenal DJ Chris Lake which was planned for this Friday,

We will reschedule Chris’s date for sometime in the future.

Gatecrasher Nottingham prides itself on having a stunning interior and cutting edge technology so we must take the time to return the interior to its former glory. We will use this essential close down period to refurbish the club making it better than it has ever been.”

Gatercrasher will be back in business as soon as possible and the club has some massive DJs planned in coming months including the Shapeshifters, Pete Tong, Spectrum’s 8th Birthday and David Guetta who plays on Good Friday.

An update on when the club will reopen will be made shortly."

Updates will be posted on the Gatecrasher web-site at www.gatecrasher.com.

Chris Lake Podcast 006: January 2009 now available

Happy new year everyone!

So we missed an edition in December.... we’re really very sorry, especially Chris Late. To make up for it he’s given us his longest podcast to date; packed with a diverse selection of tunes and his first foray into the world of Drum ‘n’ Bass. Then there’s the big one... we at Rising Music don’t like brag too much, but ‘If You Knew’ feat. Nastala has taken the numero uno spot in the Buzz, Cool Cuts and Music Week charts; it entered MTV Dance’s Essential New Tracks at #4 with a playlist add to follow. Last but not least, support has come in strong from the BBC with Tong, the lovely Sarah Cox and Scott Mills all supporting the record. Happy days and happy listening!

For further information please contact: podcast@chris-lake.com

CHRIS LAKE ROARS INTO THE OFFICIAL MUSIC WEEK CLUB CHARTS #1 SPOT!

For industry insiders, the Music Week charts are like looking into a musical crystal ball. Gathering information from DJs up and down the country, the boffins at MW tot up how much play each promo record receives, then place them against each other in a chart.

Probably the best indicators of how well a track is going to do on release, mid-week sees producers, record label bosses and industry execs awaiting the lists with baited breath.

So when house producer Chris Lake heard his latest red-hot single If You Knew was in at #1 in the Club Charts, we suspect he might have had something a bit stronger in his morning tea to celebrate!

Speaking to us over his cornflakes, Chris said, “Brilliant news! I’m so chuffed it’s gone down as well as it has. It seems to me that this record has struck a chord with so many people. A big thank you to every one for your support! Now bring on the 9th Feb!”

With just over three weeks until If You Knew receives its official release, and reports like this coming in from the tastemakers, could we be looking at a potential Top 40 entry for Chris?

If You Knew is out on Rising Music on February 9th through all major online portals and also on exclusive 12” vinyl release for the vinyl junkies out there.

It got an exclusive clip last week on Pete Tong's Fast Trax, then yesterday it was released in full by our friends at Data Transmission; so now it's out!

Featuring Chris, singer Nastala and a bevy of beautiful women, it’s the perfect accompaniment to a track that’s already causing a stir with all the major players. Snapped up by Pete on his Radio 1 show as soon as he heard it, it’s already starting to burn up the dance floors!

Chris is of course the man behind smash hit ‘Changes’ and ‘If You Knew’ carries on from that, its infectious piano riff, sultry vocals and something beats the perfect tonic to take you away from the current gloomy climate.

Out for release on Rising Music and Nervous on 9th February 2009, expect this to be one of the biggest tunes to kick start your new year.

Check it out here: http://vimeo.com/2439713

Licensing info: harvey.tadman@threesixzerogroup.com
Media info: seb@risingmusic.co.uk

CHRIS’S PASSPORT GOES ON TOUR… WITHOUT CHRIS....

Due to an unforeseen mishap at the hands of an unnamed courier, my dear passport, along with my Russian Visa, is now M.I.A. somewhere on the streets of the UK.

It is therefore with deepest regret that I will have to pull out of my gig at Tendance in St. Petersburg on Saturday night. I was really up for the show and had a lot treats up my sleeve for you guys!

I will do my very best to make sure I return to Russia as quickly as possible once my new passport and Visa arrive (or the old one appears) and will put on an extra special show for everyone to apologise for this weekend.

If anyone happens to stumble across it whilst out and about – I’m sure there are some spare CD’s in my collection that can be used as a reward.

Apologies again and I’m looking forward to seeing you all soon!

Chris

For further information please contact:
Management: Dean.wilson@threesixzerogroup.com
Licensing: Harvey.tadman@threesixzerogroup.com
PR/Marketing: Seb@risingmusic.co.uk

Podcast 005 is now available for download

Podcast 005 swings between techie tinged electro and simple deep grooves… two sounds Chris is well known for, both in and out of the studio.

His Top 5 begins with a squelchy number from Mr Oizo, followed by ZZT's 'The Worm'.. if you haven't already, get on YouTube and watch the video, it's like a David Attenborough show in super-speed. Next in comes Crazy P's funked up 'Disc Odyssey' and a Tim Weeks remix of 'Restless', out on Opaque. Sitting at the top of Chris' list is Riva Starr with the appropriately titled 'Squash'… you'll see what we mean….

Before the sound takes a deeper direction, we're treated to the vocals of Nanchang Nancy on Baggi Begovic's 'It's only nothing', the Rene Amesz remix. And then it all goes a little bit dark and twisted...

H.O.S.H's 'The valve' sets things up nicely, ahead of another tune which totally fits it's description; 'Congo man' by George F, the Re Dupre remix. Next up come two tracks filled with heavy bass-lines, one from Oliver Dahl and the other by German based Oliver Huntemann. The up tempo beats continue with Fantastic's 'Le club', a track that's got 'big-room' written all over it, before finally peaking with our friend Deadmau5 - Desynchronized, the John Made Remix.

In-line with the tone of this fifth edition podcast, Chris brings things to an end with an electro-clash b-side from Calvin Harris's album 'The girl's and a twenty-nine year old classic from Giorgio Moroder; a man who's pioneering work with synthesizers in the 70's, continues to influence electronic music across the globe.

Catch us next month for our December issue, which promises to hold a special little treat. Until then, good luck with the Christmas shopping!

For further information please contact: podcast@chris-lake.com

Podcast 003 is now available for download

This month sees Chris take a slightly darker direction in his choices. Starting with his top five, he sets an early groove before moving into the Chris Lake Remixed E.P.

This latest release sees Rene Amesz and Adam Shaw give their interpretations of Chris' unreleased track 'Deadline', Rudi Stakker remixing 'Release' and Mastiksoul's tribal reworking of the summer smash 'Only One'. Chris moves into deeper territory with Stimming's 'The Anger' and a great new release on Subliminal.

To wrap things up you'll hear the first track off Trentmoller's 2006 album, which when asked how it could be defined, Chris looked up for inspiration and simply said: "it's a journey". Happy listening people.

For a full tracklisting please visit our podcast page and you can subscribe to the podcast through iTunes or RSS via www.chris-lake.com.

Max Vangeli's Crazed E.P out now on Beatport.com

Whilst RnB style Hip-Hop and soft rock continue to dominate the US charts, there is one young gentleman who's not only caught the attention of the west coast, but also the international circuit. We introduce Mr Max Vangeli and his new "Crazed" E.P (out on digital download at Beatport as of 25.08.08) on Rising Trax.

Originally from Moldova in Eastern Europe, Max has been a rising sensation in San Francisco's house music scene and after Chris spotted him like the talent hunter he is, Max's career skyrocketed. Not only has he claimed residency at San Francisco's idyllic Ruby Skye, but he's now getting his tunes played by Mr Tong on the infamous BBC Radio 1 Essential Selection. Two of the tracks were co-produced by Digital LAB, Max's Miami-based production partner. We've got a good a feeling about this one. This is how we've defined the E.P:

There are three top draw tracks on show here. 'Crazed' starts simple yet effective and builds slowly into a big distorted guitar hook before dropping back into a very militant rhythm.

'K.E.J.I' is a stripped down prog house number with a wicked groove overlaid with nice stabs and a cool hook.

The final track of the EP is ‘iRock’ which begins as a minimal house track then drops with some cool squeaks, bleeps and delayed noises.
The stabs turn into a big snyth riff, which can only be described as large!

This package is essential!

In Max Vangeli's own words: "I would like to thank Chris Lake and the entire Rising team for the opportunity to produce great music with them. Despite being one of the busiest people on the planet, Chris Lake made time to mentor me through this E.P and I'm very grateful for that. My Crazed E.P is a collection of three high energy tracks influenced by my experiences in San Francisco's vibrant house music scene with a taste of my European roots. Hopefully the EP will help DJs rock dance floors and airwaves across the world."

ENDS

For further information:
www.chris-lake.com
Kate at IMD: kate@imd.dj
Seb at Rising Music: seb@risingmsuic.co.uk

Chris Lake Podcast 002: August 2008 now available

While all things Chris Lake and Rising Music are firing up nicely, Chris has set some time aside this month to work on and develop the Chris Lake Podcast. The team at Rising were anticipating a repeat format as per our introductory version... but hey... we were wrong. This month sees Chris go all out on over an hour of material. Don’t worry, listeners will still be greeted with his favourite five from his tune-bank, as well as all of the Rising Summer Series to date. But, just as you think it’s getting wrapped up, he’s swung into a plethora of deep grooves, with unkle as the penultimate track and the beautiful AIR to end things on a calm note.

Chris commented: "We’ve been thinking about doing these since October last year, so I can’t even begin to tell you how happy I am it’s become a reality. As the first one went down so well, I'm planning on putting one of these together on a monthly basis. I just hope listeners enjoy them as much as I love putting them together."

Chris has posted a little piece about this second edition if you fancy hearing the creator’s comments, but if you just want to listen, you can subscribe by RSS on the website or head over to iTunes. We liked it... we hope you do too.

ENDS

For further information:
www.chris-lake.com
Kate at IMD: kate@imd.dj
Sebastian at Rising Music: seb@risingmsuic.co.uk

"The One EP" is now available for digital download at Beatport.com

Chris commented: "I've been playing these two tracks in my sets for a few months now, and the reaction has been incredible. Last week 'Only One' hit number one on the Cool Cuts chart... so I'm buzzing off that! Now that we've developed an online presence, it's given us the opportunity to hear what the fans think too - so far so good ;)"

‘Only One’ is quality electronic music at it’s finest featuring the amazing vocal talents of Nastala.

The track is built around a solid thumping groove with space age zaps and keys. As the track builds a huge synth line bubbles up out of nowhere and the track dissolves into an amazing break down. Nastala’s clever vocals help drop the track back in to it full pace.

‘Mission’ is funky yet fresh electro that has got one of THE hooks of the summer!

A simple yet effective drum loop and funky bassline kick this track off with very little to give away what’s coming! When the hook finally drops the dancefloor is guaranteed to go wild! Half way through the track drops into an almost sinister section but the funk comes back and so does that hook! You will be humming this all summer long…

For further information please contact:
seb@risingmusic.co.uk.

New Lys track gets its first play on BBC Radio 1

The Italian House producer is on fire at the moment. After the recent huge remix of Rhythm Code - Rise that was one of the biggest tracks of the Miami WMC, Lys returns with a massive Piano smash ready for the White Isle! Part of the infamous duo 'Sex On Monday,' Lys' sound captivates the traditional uplifting house sound. With a mystery girl on vocals, the topline of this record subconsciously links itself to partying in Ibiza. The oldschool piano riff with the tight production from one of Italy's rising stars combines to make a sure fire anthem this summer. Not one to be missed.

For further information or to download a clip of Speechless, go to: www.risingmusicblog.com or to check out Lys head to www.myspace.com/lysdj

Start Again feat.Nastala is now available on Beatport

Start Again is the first in a series of summer releases to follow up Chris Lake\'s billboard number 1 - Carry Me Away. Like its predecessor, the track centres itself round haunting vocals and spine tingling melodies which create this true masterpiece.

Chris Lake\'s production flirts with the commanding vocals of Nastala throughout like a battle of wills, each building on intensity through the body of the track into the breakdown, at which point the hairs on your neck begin to stand on end… the sheer force of this record hits you when the final melody comes in, lifting you off your feet...

The Dub doesn\'t disappoint either, for those not fond of playing vocals in their sets, this offers more than your average instrumental and keeps stabs of the vocal in at the right points to accentuate the track and keep the warmth and spell-like atmosphere flowing throughout the piece.

'I thought inside out' smuggles its way onto GTA IV

Chris Lake & Deadmau5' collab from 2007, 'I thought inside out', has been selected as one of 200 tracks licensed for Grand Theft Auto IV, Liberty City. This is obviously a massive achievement for both of us, seeing as GTA IV is set to be the most popular game of the year. The title sold a record 609,000 copies on its first day of release, generating an estimated £24.4m ($48.5m). The previous record holder was GTA: San Andreas, which sold 501,000 copies in 24 hours in October 2004.

Needless to say, both Deadmau5 and I are ecstatic to be on such a prestigious and ground breaking game, and excited about the opportunities to get our music out to a whole new audience
